1)	In addition to the powers of arrest which a correctional official has as a peace officer in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act, any correctional official may arrest without a warrant any person whom he or she reasonably suspects of having committed an offence defined in this Act.

2)	The Criminal Procedure Act, shall apply to any exercise of powers in terms of subsection (1) as if the correctional official who was performing an arrest was acting as a peace officer in terms of section 40 of the Criminal Procedure Act.
