Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 2001

To make provision regarding the immunities and privileges of diplomatic missions and consular posts and their members, of heads of states, special envoys and certain representatives, of the United Nations, and its specialised agencies, and other international organisations and of certain other persons; to make provision regarding immunities and privileges pertaining to international conferences and meetings; to enact into law certain conventions; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 2001 (Act No. 37 of 2001) has been amended to publish the Recognition of the Twenty Second Session of African Forestry and Wild Life Commission and Sixth African Forestry and Wildlife Week, per Notice No. 130, GG 43015, dated 14 February 2020.

 

The Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 2001 (Act No. 37 of 2001) has been amended to recognise the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of the Protocol to the Convention on the International Interests in Mobile Equipment on matters specific to Mining, Agricultural and Construction Equipment scheduled to take place in Pretoria from 11 to 22 November 2019 for the purposes of granting immunities and privileges to the participants as provided for in section 6(1), per Notice No. 1458, GG 42831, dated 11 November 2019.

 

The Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 2001 (Act No. 37 of 2001) has been amended by Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Africa and The New Development Bank on the Hosting of the New Development Bank Africa Regional Centre in the Republic of South Africa, Notice No. 1264, Government Gazette 41256, dated 17 November 2017.

 

The Act has been updated by the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Amendment Act, 2008 published in Government Gazette No. 31649 dated 27 November 2008.
