(1) |
The Minister may make regulations regarding— |
(a) |
any form required to be prescribed in terms of this Act; |
(b) |
financial assistance to be provided by the State— |
(i) |
to a complainant or respondent who does not have the means to pay for fees of any service in terms of this Act; and |
(ii) |
to a witness who attends any proceedings in terms of this Act; |
(c) |
the granting of legal aid at State expense in appropriate cases in consultation with Legal Aid South Africa to the complainant, respondent, a person with a disability, an older person or a child to assist them with an application for a protection order in terms of this Act; |
(d) |
any matter required to be prescribed in terms of this Act; and |
(e) |
any other matter which the Minister deems necessary or expedient to prescribe in order to achieve the objects of this Act. |
(2) |
Any regulation made under subsection (1)— |
(a) |
must be submitted to Parliament prior to publication thereof in the Gazette; |
(b) |
which may result in expenditure for the State, must be made in consultation with the Cabinet member responsible for finance; and |
(c) |
may provide that any person who contravenes a provision thereof or fails to comply therewith is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year. |
