Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plan for the IMT2300 Frequency Band

10. Radio Frequency Migration

10.1 The frequency band 2300 MHz to 2400 MHz is identified exclusively for IMT purposes from 1 April 2024.

10.2 With the exception of Aeronautical Mobile Flight Testing in the FAR147 Flight Area, all fixed or non-IMT services in the whole band are to be cleared by 31 May 2024.

10.3 Coordination procedure: The band 2300 - 2400 MHz is currently also occasionally used for non-IMT flight testing purposes in proclaimed Flight Area FAR147. Until the band is fully cleared, there is a geographic exclusion zone encompassing Flight Area FAR147. In terms of this exclusion zone, IMT transmissions within Flight Area FAR147 are permitted only on a coordinated basis, undertaken in good faith with those responsible for Flight Area FAR147, and IMT licensees in the band shall terminate their operations in Flight Area FAR147 for the duration of such flight testing,

10.4 The parties involved must submit their coordination agreements to the Authority in terms of regulation 16 of the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations, 2015, that is, “Procedures for Coordination with Shared Frequencies”.
