Subject to the proviso to paragraph (e) of section 8(1), a controlling authority, chief fire officer or member of a service of a controlling authority or an inhabitant referred to in section 8(2) shall not be liable for any damage or loss as a result of bodily injury, loss of life or loss of or damage to property which is caused by or arises out of or in connection with anything done or performed bona fide in the exercise or performance of a power, function or duty conferred or imposed in terms of this Act, the regulations contemplated in section 15 or the by-laws contemplated in section 16.
