Notice in terms of Section 2(7) of the Gas Regulator Levies Act, 2002 (Act No. 75 of 2002)
The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, in concurrence with the Minister of Finance, has approved the budget and levies for the piped-gas industry in terms of section 2(4) of the Gas Regulator Levies Act , 2002 (Act No. 75 of 2002), as proposed by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA), for the 2020/21 financial year.
The levy for piped-gas is 42.995 c/Gj in respect of the amount of gas, measured in gigajoule, delivered by importers and producers to the inlet flanges of transmission or distribution pipelines, and will be paid by the person holding the title to the gas at the inlet flange.
The interest calculation for the piped-gas levy is determined in terms of section 4(2) of the Gas Regulator Levies Act, 2002.
The levy was determined based on an estimated volume of 181.3 million GJ per annum, as well as the 2020/21 Annual Performance Plan and budget requirement of R77,964,905 for the regulation of the piped-gas industry.
NERSA, acting under section 2(7) of the Gas Regulator Levies Act, 2002, hereby publishes the notice on the imposition of the levies for the piped-gas industry at 42.995 c/Gj for the 2020/21 financial year, as approved by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, in concurrence with the Minister of Finance.
