"1. Definitions
In this Act, unless the context otherwise indicates— "annuity" means an amount which is payable each year and includes a pension or an allowance; "benefit" means an amount of money; "Director-General" means the Director-General: Finance; "Minister" means the Minister of Finance; "pension fund" means a pension or provident fund or scheme established by or under any pension law; "pension law" means any law, including this Law, relating to a pension fund administered by or under the control of the Minister, and includes any regulation made under any such law, but excluding the Government Employees Pension Law, 1996".
"(4)(a) For the purposes of section 1(a)(i)- "employee" means any member of the Police Reserve established under Section 48 of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995). (b) For the purposes of section 1(a)(ii)— "officer or employee" means any member of the Police Reserve established under section 48 of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995), and also any member of the Government Employees Pension Fund in the employ of the Government or any provincial administration;"
