(1) | The chancellor holds office for a period of four years, unless he or she resigns or is removed from office in accordance with subparagraph (5). |
(2) | A person may not be elected for more than two consecutive terms of office. |
(3) | If the chancellor is unable, for any reason, to perform the functions of his or her office, or if the office of chancellor becomes vacant, the principal or the acting principal performs the functions of the chancellor. |
(4) | The term of office of the chancellor terminates in the event of— |
(a) | death or incapacity; |
(b) | resignation; or |
(c) | removal from office by the council. |
(5) | The chancellor may only be removed from office by the council by means of a resolution passed by at least two-thirds of the members of the council and then only after the chancellor has been given the opportunity to answer to the reasons provided by the council for the removal therefrom. |
