In terms of section 73 of the Insurance Act, 2017 (Act No. 18 of 2017 - herein called "the Act "), I, Nhlanhla Musa Nene, Minister of Finance, determine that the Act takes effect on 1 July 2018, except the repeal, in terms of section 72(1) of the Act, of—
| (a) | sections 48, 52, 53, 56, 59 and 60 of the Long -term Insurance Act, 1998 (Act No. 52 of 1998), specified in item 4 of the third column of Schedule 1 to the Act In respect of the Long -term Insurance Act; and |
| (b) | sections 46, 47, 51, 53 and 54 of the Short -term Insurance Act, 1998 (Act No. 53 of 1998), specified in item 4 of the 3rd column of Schedule 1 to the Act in respect of the Short -term Insurance Act. |
