Land Survey Act, 1997 (Act No. 8 of 1997)50. Repeal of laws of the Republic, and transitional provisions |
(1) | The laws mentioned in Schedule IV are hereby repealed to the extent indicated in the third column of that Schedule. |
(2) | The person who holds office as the Chief Surveyor-General immediately prior to the commencement of this Act shall be deemed to have been appointed as such under section 2 of this Act. |
(3) | Any office of a Surveyor-General which was established or deemed to be established under section 3 of the Land Survey Act, 1927 (Act No. 9 of 1927), shall be deemed to be an office of a Surveyor-General established under section 4 of this Act. |
(4) | Every person who holds office as a Surveyor-General immediately prior to the commencement of this Act shall be deemed to have been appointed as such under section 5 of this Act. |
(5) | Any office fees prescribed under section 9 of the Land Survey Act, 1927, shall be deemed to have been prescribed under section 8 of this Act. |
(6) | The survey regulations board established by section 6 of the Land Survey Act, 1927, as it existed immediately prior to the commencement of this Act shall cease to exist on the day immediately preceding the date of the first meeting of the survey regulations board established by section 9 of this Act. |
(7) | Any regulation made under a provision of the Land Survey Act, 1927, shall be deemed to have been made under the corresponding provision of this Act, and shall remain in force for a period of six months after the first meeting of the survey regulations board established by section 9 of this Act or until it is amended, repealed or substituted by the survey regulations board, whichever occurs the first. |
(8) | The person who holds office as the Chief Director immediately prior to the commencement of the Land Affairs General Amendment Act, 1998, shall be deemed to have been appointed as such under section 2A of this Act. |
