In these Regulations any expression defined in the Act bears that meaning and, unless the context otherwise indicates—
"broker"

"child dependant"
means a dependant who is under the age of 21 or older if he or she permitted under the rules of a medical scheme to be a dependant;
"COVID-19"
means an acute medical illness caused by a novel coronavirus;

"creditable coverage"

"enhanced option"

"hospital treatment"

"late joiner"

"managed health care"

"practice code number"
means the number allotted to a supplier of a relevant health service as a practice number by an organisation or body approved by the Council;
"pre–existing sickness condition"

"public hospital system"

"the Act"
means the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 (Act No. 131 of 1998).
"the Regulations"
means Regulations made under the Medical Schemes Act published under Government Notice No. R. 1262 of 20 October 1999, as amended by Government Notices Nos. R. 05 June 2000, R. 650 of 30 June 2000, Government Notice No. R. 247 of 1 March 2002, Government Notice No. R. 1360 of 4 November 2002, Government Notice No. R. 1397 of 6 October 2003 and Government Notice No. R. 1410 of 3 December 2004.
