The Authority may conduct an investigation with regard to a medicine or a Scheduled substance if—
| (a) |
such a medicine or Scheduled substance is recalled in South Africa or any other country; |
| (b) |
any adverse drug reaction is reported; |
| (c) |
the medicine or Scheduled substance is suspected or found not to comply with the requirements of the Act; |
| (d) |
there is an international alert with regard to such a medicine or Scheduled substance; or |
| (e) |
for any other reason related to the safety, quality and efficacy of medicine or a Scheduled substance, the Authority deems it fit to conduct an investigation on the medicine or Scheduled substance. |
