In these regulations the expression "the Act" means the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951 (Act No. 57 of 1951), and unless the context otherwise indicates, any expression used in these regulations to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act, bears the meaning so assigned, and—
"Court"
means a Court of Marine Enquiry convened under section two hundred and sixty-six of the Act;
"clerk"
means the clerk of a Court of Marine Enquiry appointed under regulation 8;
"party"
means a person declared by or under regulation 9 to be a party to the proceedings of a Court.
