| (1) | The examination for a licence as a Compass Adjuster (Unrestricted) is divided into three parts, namely written, oral and practical, to be conducted in that order. |
| (2) | To secure a pass in the written part of the examination, a candidate shall be required to obtain 70% of the total marks allocated to each of two written papers. |
| (3) | The oral part of the examination shall follow the written part and shall be conducted by the examiner at a time to be determined by him. The candidate shall satisfy the examiner that he has a full knowledge of the syllabus pertaining to the oral part of the examination. |

| (i) | In the practical part of the examination, the candidate shall demonstrate his ability to adjust a ship's compass to the satisfaction of the examiner. Such compass shall be the standard magnetic compass of a ship approved by the examiner prior to the demonstration. |
| (ii) | Only those candidates who have passed both the written and oral parts of the examination will be eligible for the practical part of the examination. |
