(1) | Every ship carrying or accepting for carriage a bulk cargo that is liable to emit a toxic or flammable gas, or cause oxygen depletion in the cargo space, must be provided with an appropriate instrument for measuring the concentration of gas or oxygen in the air together with detailed instructions for its use. The instrument must be of a type approved by the Administration, and the crew of the ship must be trained in its use. |
(2) | Every owner of a ship that carries, or every master who accepts for carriage, a bulk cargo of the kind described in subregulation (1) without ensuring that that subregulation has been complied with commits an offence. |
