National Nuclear Regulator Act, 1999

To provide for the establishment of a National Nuclear Regulator in order to regulate nuclear activities, for its objects and functions, for the manner in which it is to be managed and for its staff matters; to provide for safety standards and regulatory practices for protection of persons, property and the environment against nuclear damage; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The Act has been updated by:

Regulations-Notice 709 in Government Gazette No. 23428 dated 24 May 2002; and

Regulations-Notice No. R.388 in Government Gazette No. 28755.

 

The Regulations regarding Application for a Nuclear Installation Licence or Certificate of Registration, as published in Gazette 21171 and dated 12 May 2000, have replaced the draft regulations.

Notice 281 regarding nominations of candidates to the Board of Directors of the National Nuclear Regulator (formerly Council for Nuclear Safety), has been added to the Act, as published in Gazette 20806.

The National Nuclear Regulator Act, 1999, has been added to the site on 28 January 2000. A commencement date is still to follow.
