Chapter 1 : Objects and Application of Act

Purchase

The objects of the Act are to—

(a)	enact the Convention into law as contemplated in section 231(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996;

(b)	ensure that the Republic complies with the Convention;

(c)	prohibit the use, stockpiling, production, development, acquisition and transfer of prohibited weapons;

(d)	provide for the reporting on the Republic's compliance with the Convention to Parliament, and to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
