Regulations relating to Assistance to Victims in respect of Higher Education and Training, 2014

5. Assistance in respect of adult education and training

 

(1) Assistance in the following forms may be provided in respect of adult education and training:
(a) payment of the actual fees charged by a centre to complete the General Education and Training Certificate; and

(b) payment of a transport allowance of R4 407,00 per academic year despite the fact that a learner could not attend the learning centre the whole year in 2020 due to COVID-19: Provided that any part of the allowance not used for transport purposes must be used for any expenses incurred by a learner for purposes of remote learning.

(2) The assistance provided for in subregulation (1)(a) may only be—

(a) used to pay fees and to purchase textbooks; and
(b) paid over a period of three years.

 

(3) The transport allowance provided for in subregulation (1)(b) may only be paid—

(b) for a period not exceeding three years.
