INFORMATION REGULATOR

The Information Regulator (Regulator) has, in accordance with section 10(1) of the Promotion of Access to Information Act No. 2 of 2000, updated the PAIA Guide that was initially compiled by the South African Human Rights Commission, to enable any person who reasonably wished to exercise any right contemplated in the Promotion of Access to Information Act No. 2 of 2000 (PAIA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act 04 of 2013.

In accordance with Regulation 2.1 of the Regulations relating to the Promotion of Access to Information, 2021 (PAIA Regulations), the Regulator hereby notify the Information Officers of a Public Body and the public in general, that the aforesaid PAIA Guides are now available at the Regulator's website— https://www.justice.gov.za/inforeg/docs.html, in all eleven (11) official languages and copies thereof, including braille, are also available at the Office of the Information Regulator, for inspection, during normal office hours.

Please note that an Information Officer of each Public Body is required, in terms of Regulation 3.1 of the PAIA Regulations, to make copies of the aforesaid PAIA Guides available, in at least two of the official languages, for public inspection at his or her registered head office during normal office hours (8h30 - 16h30),
