means a 'member' as defined in section 1 of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act 68 of 1995), and with reference to section 24, includes a member of the South African National Defence Force employed in co-operation with the South African Police Service in terms of section 201 (2) (a) of the Constitution in the prevention and combating of crime and maintenance and preservation of law and order within the Republic, as contemplated in section 19 (1) of the Defence Act, 2002 (Act 42 of 2002);
