(1) | The Public Protector shall, in respect of every complaint, decide whether it is necessary to conduct a preliminary investigation for the purposes of determining the merits of the complaint, allegation or information as provided for in section 7(1)(a) of the Act. |
(2) | The Public Protector shall, decide how the complaint will be dealt with and inform the complainant within the timeframes specified in the Public Protector Service Standards, but not later than 21 days after receipt of the complaint. |
