Right of Appearance in Courts Act, 1995 (Act No. 62 of 1995)1. Definitions |
In this Act, unless the context otherwise indicates—
"advocate"
means any person duly admitted and enrolled as an advocate in terms of—
(a) | the Admission of Advocates Act, 1964 (Act No. 74 of 1964); or |
(b) | any law providing for the admission of advocates in any area in the Republic which remained in force by virtue of section 229 of the Constitution; |
"attorney"
means any person duly admitted and enrolled as an attorney in terms of—
(a) | the Attorneys Act, 1979 (Act No. 53 of 1979); or |
(b) | any law providing for the admission of attorneys in any area in the Republic which remained in force by virtue of section 229 of the Constitution; |
"Constitutional Court"
means the Constitutional Court established by section 98 of the Constitution;
"designated country"
means a country designated by the Minister of Justice by notice in the Gazette for the purposes section 4;
"Supreme Court"
means the Supreme Court of the Republic of South Africa contemplated in section 101 of the Constitution.
