21.2 |
Powers and Duties of the Skills Development Committee |
The Skills Development Committee shall generally:
21.2.1 |
Elect a Chairperson from its members; |
21.2.2 |
Guide the CETA’s application to NSA for the funding of Strategic Funds; |
21.2.3 |
Guide and support the drafting of a QMS relating to skills development in the workplace; |
21.2.4 |
Review and maintain the effectiveness of the quality management system; |
and in particular with regards to:
The SSP
21.2.5 |
Revisit the SSP annually; |
21.2.6 |
Prepare the main document; |
21.2.7 |
Monitor compliance with objectives set against the NSDS; abbreviation; |
21.2.8 |
Propose learnerships in terms of SSP requirements; |
21.2.9 |
Identify weaknesses and problem areas in SSP implementation. |
Learnerships and Skills Programmes
21.2.10 |
Identify learnerships needed; |
21.2.11 |
Identify sources of funding; |
21.2.12 |
Identify sources of learners; |
21.2.14 |
Identify timings and priorities; |
21.2.15 |
Monitor CETA funded projects; |
21.2.16 |
Approve the content of learnerships and skills programmes; |

Guide policies and procedures relating to implementation of skills programmes and learnerships; |

Monitor the implementation of learnerships and skills programmes. |

Guide the SGB process with respect to unit standards and qualifications for the sector; |

Recommend policies and procedures and support the SGB’s |

Determine learning material for training, technical competence and new technical skills. |

Consider and review relevant reports received from SAQA and the Department; |

Assess the Quarterly Monitoring Report and sign off for Executive Committee’s approval. |
