174.04.17 Relay of air-reports by ATSU

 

(1) An ATSU shall report aircraft observations made during flight, at the time an observation is made, or as soon as is practicable thereafter.

 

(2) An aircraft observation shall be reported as follows:
(a) Air-ground data link for routine observation; and
(b) Voice communication for special and non-routine aircraft observation made during a flight.

 

(3) An ATSU shall relay special air reports received by voice communication to a local meteorological office or associated MWO without delay.

 

(4) An ATSU shall relay routine and special air-reports received by data link communication without delay to its associated MWO, the WAFC, and aeronautical fixed service internet-based service centres.

 

(5) A meteorological service provider shall upon receipt of special air report from an-ATSU, issue—
(a) AIRMET or SIGMET;
(b) wind-shear warning; and
(c) aerodrome warning.
