Subpart 5 : Meteorological Service for Air Service Operator and Flight Crew Members

174.05.3 Automated pre-flight information systems

 

(1) When required. a meteorological service provider shall use an automated pre-flight information system to—
(a) supply and display meteorological information to an air service operator and flight crew members for self-briefing, flight planning, and flight documentation purposes; and
(b) provide for harmonized, common point of access to meteorological information and aeronautical information services information by an air service operator and flight crew members.

 

(2) A meteorological service provider shall establish procedures for quality management of meteorological information provided by means of an automated pre-flight information system in accordance with its quality management system principles.

 

(3) An automated pre-flight information system referred to in subregulation (1) shall be approved by the Director prior to its use.

 

(4) The meteorological information to be supplied or displayed to users using an automated pre-flight information system shall comply with the requirements set out in Document SA-CATS 174.
