In these regulations—

 

AC means Advisory Circular
ACARS means Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System;
ACAS means airborne collision avoidance system;
ACAS II means an airborne collision avoidance system meeting ICAO specifications;
ADF means Automatic Direction Finder;
ADIZ means Air Defence Identification Zone;
ADS-B means automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast;
ADS-C means automatic dependent surveillance - contract;
AFM means aircraft flight manual;
AGL means above ground level;
AIC means an Aeronautical Information Circular;
AIM means Aeronautical Information Management;
AlP means an Aeronautical Information Publication;
AIRAC means Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control;
AIR SUP means an AIP Supplement;
AIS means aeronautical information services;
ALIM means altitude limit;
ALOSP means acceptable levels of safety performance;
AMD means Aerodrome Mapping Data;
AMDB means Aerodrome Mapping Database;
AME means Aircraft Maintenance Engineer;
AMO means Aircraft Maintenance Organisation;
ANSP means Air Navigation Service Provider;
AOC means air operator certificate;
APV means approach procedure with vertical guidance;
ASTO means Aviation Security Training Organisation;
ATC means Air Traffic Control or Air Traffic Controller;
ATIS means Automatic Terminal Information Service;
ATMS means air traffic management system;
ATO means Aviation Training Organisation;
ATPL means Airline Transport Pilot Licence;
ATPL(A) means Airline Transport Pilot Licence for Aeroplane;
ATPL(H) means Airline Transport Pilot Licence for Helicopter;
ATS means Air Traffic Service;
ATSU means Air Traffic Service Unit;
ATZ means an aerodrome traffic zone;
BARO means barometric;
BIFT means Basic Instrument Flight Trainer;
BITD means basic instrument training device;
BVLOS means beyond visual line of sight;
CAA means Civil Aviation Authority;
CAMU means Central Airspace Management Unit;
CAO means Corporate Aviation Operator;
CAOC means corporate aviation operator certificate;
CAR means Civil Aviation Regulations;
CARS means cockpit audio recording system;
CAVOK means clouds and visibility okay;
CBT means computer based training including e-learning;
CDFA means continuous descent final approach;
CDI means Course Deviation Indicator;
CDL means a configuration deviation list;
CERT means CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool;
CF means Course to a Fix;
CFI means chief flying instructor;
CGI means chief ground instructor;
CNS means Communication, Navigation and Surveillance;
COMAT means Operator Material;
CO2 means carbon dioxide;
CO2E means carbon dioxide equivalent in context of greenhouse gases;
CORSIA means Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation;
CPA means the closest part of approach;
CPDLC means Controlled-pilot data link communications;
CPL means Commercial Pilot Licence;
CPL(A) means Commercial Pilot Licence for Aeroplane;
CPL(H) means Commercial Pilot Licence for Helicopter;
CTA means a control area;
CTR means a control zone;
CVR means cockpit voice recorder;
CVS means Combined Vision System;
C2 means command and control link;
DAIH means decision altitude/height;
DAME means designated aviation medical examiner;
DASAMP means Drug and Substance Abuse Management Plan;
D-ATIS means Data link-automatic terminal information service;
DFE means Designated Flight Examiner;
DME means Distance Measuring Equipment;
