Part 63  : Flight Engineer Licensing

Subpart 5 : Grade II Flight Engineer Instructor Rating

63.05.11 Reissue

 

(1) A holder of a Grade II flight engineer instructor rating, which has expired due to the lapse of the period referred to in regulation 63.05.8, may apply for the reissuing of the rating.

 

(2) The Director shall reissue a Grade 11 flight engineer rating if—
(a) a period of 60 months, calculated from the expiry date of such rating, has not lapsed; and
(b) a holder thereof has, within 90 days preceding the date of application—
(i) attended a flight engineer instructor refresher seminar as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 63; and
(ii) undergone a skills test referred to in regulation 63.05.5.

 

(3) An application for the reissuing of a rating shall be accompanied by—
(a) an original or certified copy of proof that an applicant has attended a flight  engineer instructor refresher seminar;
(b) a skills test report as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 63; and
(c) the appropriate fee as stipulated in Part 187.

 

(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (2)(a), a holder of a Grade II flight engineer rating that has expired for a period of 60 months or more may apply for the reissuing of a rating, which may only be issued i f such holder complies with the requirements for initial issue of a Grade II flight engineer instructor rating.

 

(5) The provisions of regulation 63.05.6 shall apply with the necessary changes to  an application referred to in this regulation.
