Explosives Act, 1956 (Act No. 26 of 1956)4. Prohibition of manufacture of authorized explosives except in licensed factories |
1) | No person shall manufacture any authorized explosive in any place other than an explosives factory. |
1A) |
a) | The chief inspector of explosives may grant permission, subject to the conditions prescribed by him in writing, to any person applying therefor in writing, to manufacture, at a place approved by the said chief inspector which is not in an explosives factory, by adding ammonium nitrate to or mixing it with non-explosive component parts, so approved, of an authorized explosive so approved, blasting material which is a so approved authorized explosive, for use at a blasting-place mentioned in the application. |
b) | Sub-section (1) shall not apply to the manufacture of an authorized explosive in terms of such permission. |
2) | Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, and the explosive in respect of which such contravention has taken place shall be forfeited. |
