9. Articulation across NQF Sub-frameworks

 

9.1 In the case of large-scale, national qualifications such as those on the GFETQSF, the regulation of articulation options between qualifications is possible, desirable and necessary. The articulation between a national qualification and others such as an NSC, a bachelor’s degree, diploma or higher certificate on the HEQSF is possible because criteria for qualification purpose, curriculum, uniform quality assurance, and assessment are explicitly taken into account in determining the degree of comparability. In the same way, the articulation between a national qualification and others such as a GEC or an elementary, intermediate or national occupational certificate in the OQSF is also possible.

 

9.2 The processes used to make connections and enable CAT between qualifications in different NQF sub-frameworks include but are not limited to:
(a) the identification of access possibilities in a qualification policy;
(b) the regulation of formal relationships between qualifications;
(c) research that highlights the extent and nature of the overlap that can be used for articulation purposes; and
(d) the active re-working of curricula and assessment across qualifications to create a functional and recognised bridge between one qualification and another.
