Information Regulator: PAIA Section 83(4) Reporting Deadline
Brought to you by SA Accounting Academy: The Information Regulator has issued a formal reminder regarding the mandatory submission of annual reports for the 2024/25 period.
In terms of section 83(4) of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000 (PAIA), the Information Regulator requires the heads of all private bodies to submit reports regarding requests for access to records held by those bodies. Public bodies are similarly required to submit reports under section 32 of the same Act. The deadline for these submissions is 30 June 2025.
The Regulator has established a dedicated online submission platform to facilitate these filings. The functionality is housed within the eServices portal, which can be accessed via the Regulator’s primary website or directly at https://eservices.inforegulator.org.za.
Failure to comply with the reporting requirements may result in the following regulatory actions:
- Initiation of own-initiative compliance assessments by the Regulator;
- Issuance of information notices to compel the production of data; and
- Issuance of enforcement notices for continued non-compliance.

- For your business: Compile a summary of all PAIA requests received, granted, or refused during the preceding financial year and submit the section 83(4) report via the eServices portal by 30 June 2025.
