The Department of Human Settlements has published the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Amendment Bill for public comment, with consultations underway ahead of the June 2026 deadline.
The National Assembly’s Human Settlements Committee is currently deliberating on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from & Unlawful Occupation of Land Amendment Bill, which seeks to streamline eviction processes and criminalise the incitement of illegal land occupation.
