The National Energy Regulator of South Africa has published a consultation paper on a new wholesale price methodology designed for the transitional electricity market, with public comments open until 26 June 2026. The Department of Electricity & Energy has gazetted a notice calling for public comment on the draft Nuclear Energy Amendment Bill by 21 June 2026. The Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced that regulations to operationalise the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Act, No. 23 of 2024, are expected to be gazetted by the end of October 2024. The Department of Water & Sanitation has gazetted draft regulations governing water use for onshore exploration and production involving hydraulic fracturing and underground coal gasification.
