The Department of Water & Sanitation has published draft regulations for the management and control of government waterworks and surrounding state-owned land used for recreational purposes. The Department of Water and Sanitation is seeking preliminary stakeholder input on draft regulations for government waterworks under the National Water Act. The Department of Water & Sanitation has gazetted draft regulations under the National Water Act, No. 36 of 1998, focusing on groundwater resource protection and sustainable management. The Department of Water & Sanitation has gazetted the pre-tabling explanatory summary of the National Water Amendment Bill, following Cabinet approval in July and August 2025. The Water Services Amendment Bill [B24-2025] has been tabled in Parliament, introducing mandatory competency requirements and operating licenses for water services providers.
