Parliament Update: Status of Bills and Tobacco Control Bill Progress
Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: Parliament is currently processing 34 Bills, with significant progress made on the Tobacco Products & Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill despite the legislative recess.
In accordance with the parliamentary schedule, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and the National Assembly entered recess on 4 August 2025 and 11 August 2025, respectively. Notwithstanding this recess, the National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Health conducted six virtual meetings to process oral representations regarding the Tobacco Products & Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill of 2022. These public hearings have now concluded.
