Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: National Treasury has finalised adjustments to the levies payable by supervised entities following a consultation period that ended in October 2025.

In terms of the Financial Sector & Deposit Insurance Levies Act, No. 11 of 2022, a notice was gazetted on 28 November 2025 adjusting the levies payable by entities supervised by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and the Prudential Authority. This follows a request for public input on the proposed changes which closed on 9 October 2025.

The adjustments are reflected in tables based on the schedules to the Act, which illustrate the specific calculations required for different classes of supervised entities. The levies are designed to fund the operations of the regulatory authorities and the Ombud Council.

Key aspects of the gazetted notice include:

  • Adjustments to the financial sector levy payable in respect of the Ombud Council, which are linked to the final levies determined for the FSCA;
  • Revised calculation tables for entities regulated under the various schedules of the Act; and
  • Updated amounts for the deposit insurance levy where applicable.
