Rules Board Invites Comment on SCA and Magistrates’ Courts Rule Amendments
Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: The Rules Board for Courts of Law, acting under the Rules Board for Courts of Law Act, No. 107 of 1985, has invited public comment on six sets of draft amendments to the rules of court.
The proposed changes primarily target the Supreme Court of Appeal Rules and the Magistrates’ Courts Rules. Specifically, the Board has released draft amendments concerning Rule 18 and Rule 19 of the Supreme Court of Appeal, alongside adjustments to the Magistrates’ Courts framework. Stakeholders and legal practitioners are required to submit written representations on the proposals by no later than 27 February 2026.
