FASSET: Mandatory Grant Submissions for 2026/2027

Posted 06 February 2026 Written by Acts Online

Brought to you by SA Accounting Academy: In terms of the Skills Development Act, No. 97 of 1998, FASSET has issued an invitation for Mandatory Grant applications for the 2026/2027 financial year.

In accordance with the Grant Regulations published in Government Gazette No. 35940 of 3 December 2012, qualifying levy-paying employers within the Financial and Accounting Services Sector are eligible to claim a mandatory grant equivalent to 20% of their total Skills Development Levy (SDL) contributions. To qualify, employers must submit a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and an Annual Training Report (ATR) by the prescribed deadline.

The submission requirements include:

  • A Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) detailing the company’s proposed training initiatives for the upcoming 2026/2027 financial year.
  • An Annual Training Report (ATR) providing a formal record of training activities completed during the previous year.

All applications must be completed using the official FASSET templates and submitted via the Odoo web-based portal or emailed to [email protected]. The deadline for all submissions is 30 April 2026 at 23:59. FASSET has noted that late submissions will not be accepted, and any unclaimed Mandatory Grants will be transferred to the Discretionary Grant reserve as per regulatory requirements.

Successful submission of these documents is a mandatory prerequisite for accessing FASSET’s additional discretionary grants. The authority will host capacitation sessions every Friday until the deadline to assist employers with the completion of templates.

  • For yourself: Ensure your personal professional development and training records for the current period are accurately documented to support your firm’s ATR submission.
  • For your business: You must submit the WSP and ATR via the Odoo portal by 30 April 2026 to secure the 20% SDL rebate and maintain eligibility for discretionary grant funding.
  • For your clients: Advise clients in the financial services sector to begin reconciling their training records and drafting their 2026/2027 plans immediately to meet the strict April deadline.
