In terms of the National Gambling Act, No. 7 of 2004, the Minister of Trade, Industry & Competition has gazetted proposals for a third set of amendments to the existing regulations. This regulatory update follows previous iterations aimed at aligning the gambling sector with evolving administrative requirements and policy objectives.
The Department has invited stakeholders to submit written input on the proposed changes. The deadline for submissions is 6 March 2026. Once finalised, these amendments will govern various aspects of the gambling industry, including licensing procedures, technical standards, and compliance monitoring.
The draft amendments are expected to impact the following entities:
- Licensed gambling operators and casinos;
- Manufacturers and suppliers of gambling devices;
- Provincial regulatory authorities; and
- Compliance and legal professionals serving the gaming sector.
