Status of Bills Before Parliament (31 August 2026)
Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: Parliament has released an updated legislative tracker confirming that 50 Bills remain under formal consideration across the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces as of 31 August 2026.
Following a four-week sitting period prior to entering constituency recess, the parliamentary programme saw several Bills finalised and passed into law, while new legislative instruments were formally introduced and tabled before committee structures.
Key procedural developments reflected in the latest tracking schedule include:
- A total of 50 active Bills currently before parliamentary committees or scheduled for plenary debate;
- Passage of several pieces of draft legislation that have now completed their passage through both Houses; and
- Introduction of newly tabled Bills referred to their respective portfolio and select committees for processing and public consultation.
